## About this wine

Azienda Agricola Roberto Voerzio was established in 1986 in La Morra, within Piedmont's renowned Langhe zone. Roberto Voerzio, now alongside his son Davide, gained an international reputation for radical vineyard management focused on extremely low yields per vine. First produced in 2001, Disanfrancesco comes from the single site San Francesco Fontanazza in La Morra, positioned right next to the famed Brunate Barolo MGA. The estate practices organic vineyard care with natural cow manure, eschewing synthetic chemicals to allow pure site representation.

## Interesting facts

- First produced in 2001, Disanfrancesco is crafted from vines adjacent to the legendary Brunate Barolo vineyard.
- Voerzio practices extreme cluster thinning, dropping over half the crop to yield around 1 kg of fruit per plant.
- The wine undergoes the exact same meticulous vineyard care and oak aging as Voerzio's prestigious Barolos.

## Food pairing

The elevated acidity and firm tannin structure of Nebbiolo cut seamlessly through rich fats, marbled meats, and creamy textures, while savory earthiness complements earthy mushrooms and truffles perfectly.

## Wine making process

Grapes were manually harvested toward the end of September 2023. Fermentation occurred in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using natural, indigenous yeasts found on grape skins, with maceration lasting between 10 and 30 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred spontaneously. The wine aged for 12 months in 500-liter French oak tonneaux (30% new, 70% used), followed by an additional 8 months of maturation in stainless steel tanks and large 25 hL wooden casks. The finished wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
