## About this wine

Giovanni Rosso is a historic estate located in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most prestigious communes of the Barolo zone in Piedmont, Italy. The Rosso family has been tending vineyards here since the late 1890s, though they only began bottling wine under their own label in 1995 under the guidance of Davide Rosso. This Langhe Nebbiolo is crafted from younger vines grown in the estate's prized limestone-rich soils of Serralunga d'Alba, offering a vibrant, terroir-driven expression of Piedmont's signature grape.

## Interesting facts

- The Rosso family has owned vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba since the late 19th century, but only started bottling under their own name in 1995.
- The estate has completely avoided the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in their vineyards since 2006.
- This wine is sourced from the same legendary Serralunga d'Alba terroir that produces some of the world's most long-lived Barolos.

## Food pairing

Nebbiolo's high acidity and firm tannins require foods with sufficient fat, protein, and earthy flavors to balance. Rich meats, dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles, and aged cheeses work beautifully as they soften the tannins while matching the wine's savory complexity.

## Wine making process

The grapes are strictly hand-harvested in mid-October from sustainably farmed vineyards trained in the Guyot system, where no chemical products have been used since 2006. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats and stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, lasting around 10 to 15 days with daily pumping over. The wine is then aged in large French oak casks (botti) for several months to preserve the fresh, primary fruit characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape while adding subtle structure.
