## About this wine

The Langhe Nebbiolo Leunin 2022 from Giacosa Fratelli is a red wine from the Langhe DOC in Piedmont, Italy, made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The wine's name, 'Leunin,' honors Leone Giacosa, a member of the founding family. This bottling represents a youthful and food-friendly interpretation of Nebbiolo, sourced from diverse vineyards across the Langhe region. Giacosa Fratelli is a fifth-generation, family-owned winery established in 1895 by Giuseppe Giacosa, cultivating 50 hectares of vines in Piedmont.

## Interesting facts

- Named 'Leunin' as a tribute to Leone Giacosa, a nod to the family's heritage.
- Giacosa Fratelli utilizes solar power and rainwater for irrigation.
- Langhe DOC wines offer a more immediate Nebbiolo experience.
- The winery has been family-run for five generations since 1895.

## Food pairing

The wine's firm tannins and medium-plus body are well-suited to complement the protein and fat in red meats and game, creating a balanced palate. Its inherent structure can stand up to richer sauces, while subtle herbal notes can echo savory seasonings in dishes.

## Wine making process

The Langhe Nebbiolo Leunin 2022 undergoes traditional temperature-controlled vinification. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation occur in temperature-controlled vats for 14-15 days, followed by fermentation in concrete wine tanks at 28°C for 20 days on the skins. The wine is then aged for 12 months in large barrels. Subsequently, it is aged partly in barrique (20-30%) and the remainder in 50 hl oak barrels for about 8-9 months, before filtration and bottling.
