## About this wine

M. Chapoutier is one of the most historic and respected names in the Rhône Valley, pioneering biodynamic viticulture in the region. The estate's Crozes-Hermitage 'Les Meysonniers' is sourced from organically farmed vineyards with vines averaging 25 years of age. The name pays tribute to the traditional seasonal harvest workers. Chapoutier is also famous for incorporating Braille on all of its labels, a tribute to Maurice de La Sizeranne, a blind pioneer who created a simplified form of Braille and whose family owned the land where some of Chapoutier's vineyards sit.

## Food pairing

The moderate-to-high tannins and vibrant acidity of Northern Rhône Syrah cut beautifully through rich, fatty meats like lamb and beef. The wine's natural black pepper and herbal notes harmonize with roasted herbs and gamey flavors, while its dark fruit profile complements savory, earthy dishes.

## Wine making process

The grapes for Les Meysonniers are harvested entirely by hand at optimal maturity. Upon arrival at the winery, the fruit is 100% destemmed to avoid harsh green tannins. Fermentation takes place in traditional concrete vats at controlled temperatures, lasting approximately 3 to 4 weeks to ensure gentle extraction of color, fruit flavors, and structure. The wine is aged for approximately 12 months, with about 85% of the blend maturing in concrete tanks to preserve the pure, vibrant fruit character of the Syrah grape, while the remaining 15% is aged in used oak barrels to add subtle complexity and roundness.
