## About this wine

Domaine Marie et Vincent Tricot is situated in Orcet within the Puy-de-Dôme area of Auvergne, France. Vincent Tricot learned winemaking in Beaujolais alongside pioneers of the natural wine movement before settling in Auvergne with his wife Marie in 2002 to tend organic vineyards planted on high-altitude volcanic soils. Les Milans Rouge is a small-batch cuvée showcasing the unique terroir of Orcet, finished with hand-drawn label art created by the couple's daughters.

## Interesting facts

- The wine's artistic label was designed by Marie and Vincent's daughters, Orane and Manoë.
- Vineyards are set on steep volcanic basalt soils at elevations between 400 and 450 meters.
- The domain has produced all of its wines completely without added sulfites since 2011.

## Food pairing

The elevated acidity and light, supple tannins of this volcanic red pair naturally with earthy dishes, cured meats, and lean roasted poultry. The wine's fresh nature cuts through fat without overpowering delicate flavors.

## Wine making process

Organically grown grapes are hand-harvested from high-elevation vineyards rich in basalt, limestone, and clay. Pinot Noir is destemmed, while Gamay d'Auvergne and Syrah undergo whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in neutral tanks without added sulfites. The wine ages for six to eight months in older oak barrels and foudres before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
