## About this wine

The Libellula Merlot 2019 is an Italian red wine from the Veneto region, produced by Annafrancesca di Gobbi. The winery is a family venture led by sisters Anna and Francesca Gobbi, who are dedicated to organic and sustainable farming. The wine's name and label, featuring a dragonfly, represent the estate's commitment to biological practices and a modern outlook. The vineyard's history dates back to 1957 when the first Merlot vines were planted. This wine originates from the Legnago plains in Verona, an area less commonly associated with wine production compared to other parts of Veneto. The sisters aim to combine traditional winemaking with contemporary techniques in their boutique, small-batch productions.

## Food pairing

The wine's medium+ body and structured tannins complement the richness of red meats and game, while its savory notes harmonize with herbs and earthy flavors. The fruit profile can stand up to richer sauces and cheeses.

## Wine making process

The Libellula Merlot undergoes traditional fermentation in 60HL oak barrels, with manual punching down to achieve optimal color and tannicity. After pressing, the wine is settled and then aged for 12 months in 15HL and 20HL oak barrels. This is followed by a six-month period in cement tanks and a final six months of bottle aging before release. The winery is committed to organic and sustainable farming practices.
