## About this wine

Weingut Sommer is an historic family estate in Donnerskirchen, Burgenland, with winemaking roots dating back to 1698. Under the leadership of Leo and Kathrin Sommer, the estate focuses on craft-driven, low-intervention winemaking. Grown on the mica-schist and limestone slopes of the Leithagebirge, Little Sister is designed as a cheeky, approachable counterpart to the estate's flagship Salz und Rauch Grüner Veltliner.

## Interesting facts

- Weingut Sommer has winegrowing roots in Donnerskirchen dating back to 1698.
- Matured in concrete egg vessels and neutral 1,200-liter acacia wood barrels.
- Conceived as the playful counterpart to the estate's flagship Salz und Rauch cuvée.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and stony saline character of this dry Grüner Veltliner cut through rich goat cheese and delicate seafood, while its savory herbal and spicy profile complements fresh green dishes and light Asian spices.

## Wine making process

Crafted from organically farmed younger vines (20-30 years old), the grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes natural low-intervention winemaking with extended maturation on fine lees in large 1,200L acacia wood barrels and concrete egg vessels. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
