## About this wine

Marco Felluga was established in 1956 in Gradisca d'Isonzo, representing a winemaking tradition in Collio that spans over a century. Today, the estate is led by sixth-generation winemaker Ilaria Felluga in partnership with Tommasi Family Estates. The name Mongris comes from a contraction of the Friulian dialect terms mono, meaning single varietal, and gris, meaning gray for Pinot Grigio, which has been cultivated in the Collio hills since the mid-19th century.

## Interesting facts

- The name Mongris combines Friulian dialect words 'mono' (single varietal) and 'gris' (gray, referring to Pinot Grigio).
- Vineyards grow on ancient Eocene Flysch soil, locally named 'Ponca', composed of mineral-rich marl and sandstone.
- Pinot Grigio has been cultivated in the rolling hills of Collio since around 1850.

## Food pairing

The structured body, vibrant acidity, and distinct mineral character of this white wine complement rich seafood, roasted poultry, and creamy vegetable dishes. High natural acidity cuts through rich textures while harmonious savory nuances enhance fresh herbs and goat cheese.

## Wine making process

Hand-picked from vines planted on Eocene Flysch (Ponca) soils composed of alternating layers of marl and sandstone. The grapes are destemmed and undergo cold skin maceration followed by gentle pneumatic pressing. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with no malolactic fermentation to retain freshness. The wine ages on fine lees in stainless steel for 5 to 6 months before spending 2 to 3 months resting in bottle prior to release.
