## About this wine

Schubert Wines was established in 1998 by Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, both graduates of the prestigious German winemaking university in Geisenheim. After searching internationally for the ideal climate and terroir to cultivate Pinot Noir, they chose the Wairarapa region on New Zealand's North Island. Marion's Vineyard is one of the estate's flagship single vineyards, planted at high density with traditional Pommard and Abel clones on alluvial gravel riverbed soils.

## Interesting facts

- Founded by German viticulture graduates Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling.
- Marion's Vineyard is named directly in honor of co-winemaker Marion Deimling.
- Utilizes European high-density planting with structural Pommard and Abel clones.
- The estate holds full BioGro organic certification in New Zealand.

## Food pairing

The bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, and vibrant red fruit character of this Martinborough Pinot Noir cut seamlessly through rich poultry like duck and salmon, while herbal nuances complement roasted meats and earth-driven mushroom dishes.

## Wine making process

Harvested entirely by hand, the 100% certified organic grapes undergo complete de-stemming followed by cold maceration in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Following fermentation, the wine remains on grape skins for three weeks to build structure. It is then aged for 15 months in French oak barriques before bottling.
