## About this wine

The Felton Road MacMuir Pinot Noir 2022 is a single-vineyard wine from the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago, New Zealand. The MacMuir vineyard, planted in 2012, is named in honor of the owner's Muir clan heritage, referencing the historical Battle of Bannockburn. Felton Road Wines, the producer, is dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming practices and a philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking, aiming to express the unique terroir of their vineyards. This wine is the second release from the MacMuir vineyard as a distinct single-vineyard bottling.

## Interesting facts

- Vineyard planted in 2012 with high vine density.
- Wine is neither fined nor filtered.
- Certified organic and biodynamic farming.

## Food pairing

The wine's medium-plus body and structured tannins are well-suited to complement the richness of proteins like duck and lamb, while its fruit and earthy notes can harmonize with mushrooms and herbs. The wine's acidity helps to cut through richer dishes, cleansing the palate.

## Wine making process

The 2022 Felton Road MacMuir Pinot Noir undergoes spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. A portion of the grapes (25%) are fermented whole bunch, followed by a moderately long maceration on skins. The wine is then aged for 13 months in French oak barrels, with 25% of them being new. It is intentionally not fined or filtered. The vineyards are managed using organic and biodynamic principles, holding both Demeter and BioGro certifications.
