## About this wine

Domaine Coche-Dury, based in Meursault, is one of Burgundy's most legendary and cult-followed estates. Founded in the 1920s by Léon Coche and elevated to global icon status under Jean-François Coche-Dury, the domain is currently managed by his son, Raphaël Coche. The estate is celebrated for its meticulous, garden-like vineyard management and a philosophy that treats every parcel with grand cru level care. The 2021 vintage represents a highly unique moment in the estate's history: devastating spring frosts decimated yields across the Côte de Beaune, forcing the estate to blend all of their individual village-level parcels—including prized sites like Les Narvaux—into a single, unified Meursault bottling. This makes the 2021 vintage an exceptionally rare, collective expression of the estate's diverse Meursault terroirs.

## Interesting facts

- Due to devastating spring frosts, the 2021 Meursault is a rare blend of all the estate's village-level parcels, rather than separate bottlings.
- Domaine Coche-Dury plants absolutely no clones in their vineyards, a major rarity in modern Burgundy viticulture.
- Current director Raphaël Coche famously believes that 'everything is under-classed in Meursault,' treating village sites with Grand Cru care.

## Food pairing

This rich, high-acid white Burgundy pairs beautifully with noble, textured proteins and decadent sauces. The wine's vibrant acidity cuts through the richness of butter, cream, and poultry fat, while its subtle oak integration and mineral tension complement earthy elements like wild mushrooms and the sweet, delicate meat of high-end seafood.

## Wine making process

The winemaking at Domaine Coche-Dury is deeply traditional and precise. Vineyards are farmed manually without chemical pesticides, and yields are strictly limited through severe pruning. No clonal selections are used. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted twice before pressing. Fermentation occurs with natural yeasts in traditional oak casks. The wine undergoes a long, cold maturation in the cellar with frequent lees stirring (bâtonnage) and extended contact with fine lees, which acts as a natural antioxidant. For the Meursault Village, the wine is aged in oak barriques for 15 to 22 months, utilizing approximately 25% new oak. The wine is bottled without filtration to preserve its structural integrity and natural complexity.
