## About this wine

Vina Geržinić is a family-owned estate nestled in the scenic landscape of Vižinada, Istria. In 2005, winemaker Marko Geržinić took over the century-old family farm, modernizing the cellar and establishing it as a highly respected modern brand. Marko was a member of the 'generation of seven' young Istrian winemakers who revolutionized the regional wine scene in the mid-2000s. The winery's trademark is a Rooster (Pijetao), symbolizing the family’s rural roots in Ohnići, the awakening of a new winemaking era, and the proud tradition of Istrian agriculture.

## Interesting facts

- The winery's trademark is a Rooster, symbolizing rural roots and the awakening of a new winemaking era in Istria.
- Winemaker Marko Geržinić was part of the 'generation of seven' young winemakers who revolutionized Istrian wine in the mid-2000s.
- The grapes are grown on 'Crvena zemlja' (Terra Rossa), a red clay soil rich in iron that gives the wine its structural density.

## Food pairing

This semi-sweet Muscat relies on its vibrant acidity to balance its natural residual sugars, preventing it from feeling cloying. It pairs beautifully with light, fruit-based desserts and traditional Istrian pastries that mirror its stone fruit and floral profiles. Additionally, the wine's sweetness and acidity provide an excellent contrast to the mild saltiness of young goat or sheep's milk cheeses.

## Wine making process

The grapes are handpicked from vineyards situated between 220 and 250 meters above sea level on iron- and clay-rich Terra Rossa (red soil). Vinification is carried out using temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks (inox) to protect the delicate varietal esters and aromatic purity of the Muscat grape. Fermentation is deliberately halted early via cooling to preserve the natural residual sugars. The wine is aged strictly in stainless steel vats to retain maximum fresh fruit and floral characteristics without any oak influence.
