## About this wine

Nardo is the flagship red wine from the Montepeloso estate, located in the Maremma sub-region of Tuscany, specifically in Suvereto. The 2020 vintage is a blend primarily of Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano, and Alicante. The wine is a 'super-selection' from the estate's oldest and best vines, aiming to capture the unique Mediterranean character of the coastal Tuscan terroir. Montepeloso was established in 1998 by Fabio Chiarelotto, who emphasizes organic and biodynamic farming and a hands-on approach to winemaking. The estate is known for its commitment to developing the full potential of its terroir.

## Food pairing

The wine's full body and robust structure, along with its fine tannins, make it an excellent match for rich, protein-heavy dishes. The intensity of the wine can stand up to strong flavors, while its fruit notes can complement savory elements.

## Wine making process

The Nardo 2020 is produced by Montepeloso using fermentation with natural yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in 40% new 400-liter tonneau barrels. It then undergoes a further 9 months of bottle aging before release. The estate employs organic and biodynamic farming practices in its vineyards. The production volume is approximately 3500 bottles annually.
