## About this wine

Founded in 1943 by Nikola Nobilo, who emigrated from Croatia with over 300 years of family winemaking lineage, Nobilo Wines played a pioneering role in New Zealand's modern wine industry. Nikola was among the first to recognise Marlborough's extraordinary potential for world-class viticulture in the 1970s. Sourced from vineyards across Marlborough, primarily the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, this classic expression captures the region's bright sunshine, cool coastal breezes, and ancient alluvial soils.

## Interesting facts

- Nikola Nobilo emigrated from Croatia in 1937, bringing over 300 years of family winemaking tradition to New Zealand.
- Grapes are sourced from both Wairau and Awatere valleys to balance tropical richness with crisp herbal acidity.
- Nikola Nobilo was a pioneer in transitioning New Zealand viticulture toward classic European grapes in the 1970s.

## Food pairing

The vibrant, high acidity and intense citrus and herbal notes of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc require fresh, high-acid foods or light seafood. Fresh goat cheese provides a classic complementary match, while citrus-dressed salads and grilled shellfish match the wine's brightness and crisp intensity without overpowering its delicate body.

## Wine making process

Grapes are gently pressed with minimal skin contact to preserve pure varietal aromatics. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures in 100% temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeast strains to maximize aromatic expression. Vineyard parcels from the warmer Wairau Valley and cooler Awatere Valley are fermented separately before master blending. The wine is aged entirely in stainless steel to retain vibrant freshness without oak influence.
