## About this wine

Founded in 1832, Labouré-Roi is a historic négociant house based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the bustling heart of the Côte de Nuits. Over nearly two centuries, the house has built a reputation for sourcing high-quality grapes from across Burgundy's prestigious appellations. Nuits-Saint-Georges is renowned for producing some of the most robust, structured, and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines in the region, characterized by their muscular frame and deep, earthy complexity.

## Interesting facts

- Labouré-Roi was established in 1832 and remains historically anchored in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
- The cellars of Labouré-Roi can house over 1,300 oak barrels under natural temperature control.
- Nuits-Saint-Georges has no Grand Cru vineyards, but its top Premier Crus are widely considered of Grand Cru quality.

## Food pairing

The robust structure, firm tannins, and vibrant acidity of Nuits-Saint-Georges Pinot Noir require rich, savory dishes. Game meats, roasted duck, and earthy mushroom-based sauces complement the wine's savory undertones and cut through its structural intensity.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process follows traditional Burgundian methods. Grapes are carefully hand-harvested and sorted upon arrival at the winery. After partial or complete destemming, the fruit undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration to extract color and primary fruit aromas. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled open-top wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 12 to 16 months in French oak barrels, of which approximately 20% to 30% are new, to integrate tannins and add subtle spice notes.
