## About this wine

Old Coach Road is a range crafted by Seifried Estate, the oldest and largest family-owned winery in the Nelson region of New Zealand's South Island. Established in 1973 by Austrian-born Hermann Seifried and his wife Agnes, the estate remains family-run today. The brand is named after a historic 1850s mail route that traversed the Moutere Valley. The 2024 vintage is highly celebrated, with founder Hermann Seifried noting it as potentially the finest of his nearly five decades of winemaking in Nelson, thanks to an exceptionally warm and dry summer.

## Interesting facts

- Named after a historic 1850s mail route used by foot and horseback carriers through Nelson's Moutere Valley.
- Founder Hermann Seifried declared the 2024 vintage as perhaps the very best of his 49 seasons in Nelson.
- Grown on stony river boulder soils that absorb daytime heat and radiate it back to the vines at night.

## Food pairing

The high acidity and vibrant herbaceous character of this Sauvignon Blanc cut through rich, creamy textures like goat's cheese, while its citrus and tropical notes beautifully complement fresh seafood and aromatic, mildly spicy Asian dishes.

## Wine making process

The grapes are sourced from the stony, free-draining soils of the Brightwater and Queen Victoria vineyards. Following harvest, the fruit is immediately de-stemmed and pressed. Fermentation is carried out at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the vibrant, primary fruit characteristics. The wine is kept entirely unoaked and is certified under the Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand program.
