## About this wine

Domaine Scheidecker & Fils is a multi-generational family estate in Alsace, born in 1990 from the merger of two local winemaking families. Today, the estate is managed by Laurent Scheidecker, who was named 'Winemaker of the Year' for Alsace in the 2023 Guide Hachette des Vins. Under his leadership, the estate transitioned to 100% organic viticulture, with the 2024 vintage marking their first officially certified organic release. The estate's 12 hectares are divided into over 80 micro-plots across five communes, capturing the diverse clay-limestone terroirs of the region.

## Interesting facts

- The 2024 vintage represents the estate's very first officially certified organic release.
- Winemaker Laurent Scheidecker was named 'Winemaker of the Year' for Alsace in the 2023 Guide Hachette des Vins.
- Since 2014, the estate has completely eliminated the use of sulfur dioxide on raw grape juices prior to fermentation.

## Food pairing

This light-to-medium-bodied Pinot Noir thrives on its bright acidity and soft tannins. It pairs beautifully with lean meats, poultry, and earthy vegetarian dishes like mushrooms, which complement the wine's subtle forest floor and herbal undertones without overpowering its delicate structure.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process at Domaine Scheidecker & Fils emphasizes low-intervention practices. Since 2014, the estate has eliminated the use of sulfur dioxide prior to fermentation to preserve native yeasts. Grapes are fully destemmed and undergo a long maceration. Cap management is performed entirely by hand using manual punching down (pigeage manuel) to gently extract color and supple tannins. The wine is aged in traditional large wooden tuns (foudres) to preserve the pure, fresh fruit character of the Pinot Noir grape.
