## About this wine

Podere La Berta was acquired in 2009 by the Poggiali family, owners of the renowned Fattoria di Felsina in Tuscany. Originating from Ravenna in Emilia-Romagna, the family established this project to highlight the high potential of native Romagna Sangiovese. Located in the foothills of Brisighella near the Vena del Gesso park, the estate's label features L'Albicocco (the wild apricot tree), paying homage to the indigenous wild apricot trees and ancient olive groves surrounding the property.

## Interesting facts

- Sourced from vineyards near the Vena del Gesso park featuring rich prehistoric marine deposit soils.
- Owned by the Poggiali family, who are also the owners of Chianti Classico's famous Fattoria di Felsina.
- The label icon L'Albicocco pays tribute to wild apricot trees indigenous to the local hills of Brisighella.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and fine-grained tannins of Sangiovese cut effortlessly through rich meats and savory pasta sauces like Romagnolo ragu. Juicy red fruit notes harmonize beautifully with cured meats and tomato-based dishes, creating a classic regional pairing.

## Wine making process

The 100 percent Sangiovese grapes are harvested by hand in small crates from vineyards planted on clay and sand soils with prehistoric marine deposits. Fermentation takes place with temperature control on skin contact in stainless steel tanks, followed by complete malolactic conversion. The wine ages primarily in stainless steel vats to preserve pure fruit character and varietal aromatics, followed by a minimum of three months of bottle aging prior to release.
