## About this wine

Punt Road Wines is situated in Coldstream within Victoria's renowned Yarra Valley, Australia. Focused on minimal-intervention winemaking led by winemaker Tim Shand, all fruit is estate-grown on the historic Napoleone Vineyard property, featuring vines planted as far back as 1988 on ancient sandstone-laden gravel and clay soils. The 2024 vintage was defined by a wet spring that built healthy soil moisture followed by a warm, dry ripening window in February, yielding pure and vibrant fruit.

## Interesting facts

- The Napoleone Vineyard features soils of ancient sandstone-laden gravel and clay formations.
- Includes 10% whole bunch fermentation with native yeasts for added perfume and structure.
- Harvested from estate vines in Coldstream planted as far back as 1988.
- Certified sustainable under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

## Food pairing

Cool-climate Yarra Valley Pinot Noir combines bright red fruit aromas and supple tannins that pair effortlessly with oily fish like salmon, rich poultry like duck, and earthy vegetarian dishes like mushroom risotto. Its lively acidity cuts through richer fats while harmonious tannins complement tender roasted meats without dominating them.

## Wine making process

Hand-picked estate Pinot Noir grapes (clones MV6, 115, and 777) from various blocks of the Napoleone Vineyard were fermented spontaneously as whole berries with 10% whole bunch inclusion. The wine matured in 20% new French oak barrels from cooperages Dargaud & Jaegle and Taransaud before being bottled with minimal fining.
