## About this wine

Quinta Milú is a micro-winery project founded in 2006 by viticulturist and winemaker Germán R. Blanco in the village of La Aguilera, located in Burgos within Spain's Ribera del Duero region. Named after Germán's son Lucas, whose family nickname is Milú, the estate was created to champion a fresh, fluid, and terroir-driven alternative to the heavily extracted and oak-dominated styles traditional to the region. Focusing on high-altitude old bush vines, Quinta Milú crafts artisanal village wines that celebrate pure fruit expression and regional authenticity.

## Interesting facts

- Named after winemaker Germán Blanco's son Lucas, whose family nickname is Milú.
- Grapes are harvested from 50+ year old high-altitude bush vines situated up to 910 meters above sea level.
- Employs traditional foot-treading (pisado con los pies) to gently extract juice without harsh tannins.
- Aged exclusively in neutral used oak to preserve vivid primary fruit and vibrant natural acidity.

## Food pairing

The lively acidity and supple, medium tannins of this fresh Tempranillo make it an exceptional match for savory cured meats and rich, roasted proteins like suckling lamb. The wine's earthy and herbal undertones also align naturally with wild mushrooms, while its vibrant fruit structure cuts cleanly through rich fats.

## Wine making process

Sourced from organically managed, dry-farmed bush vines averaging 50 to 56 years of age at altitudes between 870 and 910 meters. The hand-harvested Tempranillo grapes undergo traditional foot-treading and spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts in a combination of stainless steel vats, open barrels, and large oak tubs. Emphasizing soft infusion over harsh extraction, the wine ages for 5 to 6 months in neutral used French oak barrels. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfites.
