## About this wine

Ràdica Rosso is produced by I Vigneri, a collective led by Salvo Foti alongside his sons Simone and Andrea on the north-western slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Grown at 1,010 meters elevation in Contrada Tartaraci, the wine comes from centenary bush vines cultivated using the traditional Alberello Etneo method. The name 'Ràdica' means 'root' in Sicilian, reflecting deep family ties to Mount Etna's winegrowing tradition. Grenache on Etna dates back to the 19th century, prized at high altitudes for its resilience and early ripening.

## Interesting facts

- The name Ràdica translates to 'root' in Sicilian, representing the Foti family's deep connection to Mount Etna.
- Grapes come from 100- to 140-year-old bush vines planted at over 1,000 meters elevation in volcanic soil.
- I Vigneri is named after a historic guild of Etnean winegrowers founded in 1435.
- Annual production is extremely limited to roughly 2,000 bottles worldwide.

## Food pairing

This high-altitude Grenache combines lively acidity, fine silky tannins, and bright berry character. Acid-driven Mediterranean dishes like tomato-based pasta or cured meats match its crisp structure, while savory grilled lamb and fatty seared tuna balance its fine tannins and mineral depth.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested whole bunches of Grenache undergo about one week of semi-carbonic maceration in old, open-top wooden tonneaux. The grapes are then manually pressed, followed by spontaneous fermentation using indigenous wild yeasts. The wine ages for six months in stainless steel tanks to preserve fresh, high-altitude fruit purity before being bottled with coarse filtration and no synthetic additives or biotechnology.
