## About this wine

RhoneWolf is a bold, modern interpretation of classic Rhône-style blends, paying homage to the historical Rhône Valley of France while embracing the unique high-altitude terroir of the Sierra Foothills in El Dorado County, California. Crafted under the Myka Estates brand umbrella, founded by Mica Raas, this wine represents the spirit of the region's 'Rhône Rangers' movement. The Sierra Foothills, characterized by volcanic clay and granitic soils, provides an ideal environment for cultivating intense, expressive Rhône varietals that balance power with freshness.

## Interesting facts

- RhoneWolf is produced in El Dorado County, the historic birthplace of California's famous 'Rhône Rangers' wine movement.
- The blend is dominated by 75% Syrah, which provides a savory, smoky backbone complemented by Grenache and Mourvèdre.
- The wine achieved a 92-point score and a 'Hidden Gem' designation from wine critic Tonya Pitts.

## Food pairing

The wine's robust body, moderate tannins, and rich dark fruit profile make it an exceptional match for savory, slow-cooked, and grilled meats. The smoky and herbal nuances in the wine complement charred flavors from the grill, while the balanced acidity cuts through the richness of fatty meats and earthy mushroom dishes.

## Wine making process

The grapes (75% Syrah, 15% Grenache, and 10% Mourvèdre) were harvested at peak maturity from high-elevation vineyard plots. Fermentation was conducted using selected yeasts designed to enhance Rhône varietal characteristics. The must underwent pump-overs three times daily to maximize color and flavor extraction. Following a gentle pressing to avoid harsh, drying tannins, the wine was blended and aged in a combination of 50% French oak, 30% American oak, and 20% neutral oak barrels.
