## About this wine

Pichler-Krutzler was founded in 2006 by Elisabeth Pichler (daughter of Wachau legend F.X. Pichler) and Erich Krutzler. Located in the Wachau, they also source exceptional fruit from neighboring Kremstal, such as the historic Ried Pfaffenberg. This steep, terraced vineyard sits right on the border of the Wachau and Kremstal, overlooking the Danube. The soils here are dominated by crystalline primary rock (gneiss and granite), which imparts a distinct mineral tension and precision to the Riesling grapes grown here.

## Interesting facts

- Ried Pfaffenberg is historically significant, situated on a steep Danube bend where Kremstal meets the Wachau.
- The estate was founded by Elisabeth Pichler, daughter of Wachau legend F.X. Pichler, and her husband Erich Krutzler.
- Pichler-Krutzler strictly avoids chaptalization, sweet reserve, or any chemical fining agents in their cellar.

## Food pairing

The high acidity and intense minerality of this dry Riesling cut beautifully through rich, fatty dishes like pork belly or fried schnitzel, while its vibrant citrus and stone fruit notes complement aromatic Asian spices and fresh seafood.

## Wine making process

The winemaking philosophy at Pichler-Krutzler is defined by minimal intervention and respect for the terroir. Grapes are harvested by hand with strict selection. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using native yeasts in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure, crystalline fruit and mineral character of the Pfaffenberg site. The wine is aged on its fine lees before bottling, without any fining or cosmetic adjustments.
