## About this wine

Founded in 1935, Azienda Agricola Matteo Correggia in Canale d'Alba transformed when 23-year-old Matteo Correggia inherited the farm in 1985 and chose to focus entirely on quality viticulture. Close with the pioneering Barolo Boys, Matteo adapted modern techniques to Roero's unique sandy soils, demonstrating that Nebbiolo from Roero could achieve world-class elegance. Following his tragic passing in 2001, his widow Ornella Costa and family took over, guiding the estate to certified organic farming.

## Interesting facts

- An asteroid in outer space was officially named Asteroid Matteo Correggia No. 13917 in honor of the late winemaker.
- Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam was photographed holding up a bottle of this wine live on stage during a concert.
- Matteo Correggia was key in establishing Roero Nebbiolo as a world-class wine region alongside the Barolo Boys.

## Food pairing

Nebbiolo's elevated acidity and firm tannin structure demand rich dishes containing high protein, fats, and savory umami to soften the palate. Classic Piedmontese slow-cooked meats, pasta ragùs, and aged cheeses balance the lively acidity and structure perfectly.

## Wine making process

Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo vines grown in fine sandy soils rich in marine fossils at 280-330 meters elevation. The organic grapes are harvested manually between late September and early October. Fermentation takes place with temperature control and 6 to 8 days of skin maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by at least 6 months of aging in oak barrels and stainless steel before bottling.
