## About this wine

Azienda Vinicola Federici was established in 1960 by Antonio Federici in Zagarolo, an ancient town built on volcanic tuff hills in Lazio, Italy. In 2001, the estate shifted focus toward dedicated viticulture to highlight native central Italian grape varieties. Produced under the Roma DOC classification, this red cuvée celebrates the historical winemaking tradition of the Roman countryside by blending indigenous Cesanese with Montepulciano.

## Interesting facts

- Pairs Montepulciano with Cesanese, an ancient native grape cultivated around Rome since antiquity.
- Vineyards are planted on volcanic tuffaceous soils in Zagarolo at 330 meters elevation.
- Consistently awarded top honors, including 99 points from Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.

## Food pairing

The lively acidity and smooth, balanced tannins cut through the rich fats of traditional Roman cured pork like guanciale and aged cheeses, while the vibrant fruit core complements rich tomato sauces and grilled meats perfectly.

## Wine making process

The grapes are harvested from vineyards situated at 330 meters above sea level grown on volcanic tuffaceous soils. Following destemming and gentle crushing, the fruit undergoes prolonged warm skin maceration along with temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation. The wine is matured sur lie on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for seven months prior to bottling, preserving pure varietal fruit expression without any oak influence.
