## About this wine

Tenuta Col d'Orcia is one of Montalcino's historic estates and the largest certified organic winery in Tuscany. Located on the southern slopes of Sant'Angelo in Colle overlooking the Orcia River, the estate spans 520 hectares with a dedicated focus on biodiversity and regional terroir. In the early 1970s, Count Alberto Marone Cinzano championed bottling a young, fruit-forward Sangiovese from Brunello vineyards, a pioneering initiative that led directly to the creation of the official Rosso di Montalcino DOC in 1983.

## Interesting facts

- Col d'Orcia is the largest certified organic winery in Tuscany, covering 520 total hectares.
- Count Alberto Marone Cinzano played a pivotal role in establishing the Rosso di Montalcino DOC in 1983.
- The wine is traditionally aged for 12 months in large 75-hl and 150-hl Slavonian oak casks.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and structured tannins cut effortlessly through rich fats, olive oil, and aged cheeses, while subtle herbal and floral accents complement savory game ragùs and charred red meats.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested from certified organic estate vineyards in Sant'Angelo in Colle, the grapes undergo fermentation and maceration for 10 to 12 days at 28 °C in wide stainless steel tanks to optimize tannin and color extraction while keeping fresh aromas intact. The wine is then matured for 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks (75 hl and 150 hl) followed by bottle refinement before market release.
