## About this wine

Weingut Josef Leitz is a highly regarded estate located in Germany's Rheingau region. Led by Johannes Leitz, who took over in 1985 at the age of 21, the estate has expanded from 2.9 hectares to around 90 hectares. The 'Magic Mountain' cuvée references Thomas Mann's classic novel Der Zauberberg and pays tribute to the steep, quartzite-rich slopes of Rüdesheim am Rhein. Crafted as a second wine from declassified fruit of prestigious Grand Cru and Erste Lage sites, it offers remarkable vineyard provenance and quality.

## Interesting facts

- Named in tribute to Thomas Mann's famous novel Der Zauberberg ('The Magic Mountain').

- Johannes Leitz grew the family estate from 2.9 hectares into an internationally acclaimed 90-hectare winery.

## Food pairing

The high natural acidity cuts through rich seafood and creamy cheeses while providing a crisp, refreshing match for light Asian cuisine without dominating delicate flavors.

## Wine making process

Grapes are organically grown on steep terraced slopes of quartzite and slate, then harvested by hand. Vinification takes place using temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks alongside traditional large neutral oak casks (Stückfass) with indigenous fermentations. To build textural harmony without altering freshness, the wine undergoes extended maturation on fine lees (sur-lie) prior to bottling.
