## About this wine

Sancerre Le Grand Rochoy is a single-vineyard wine from Domaine Laporte, a producer with roots dating back to 1850. The grapes are grown on the 'Le Rochoy' monopole, a 2.5-hectare plot known for its flinty terroir and old vines, contributing to the wine's minerality. The vineyard is managed using certified organic practices. The appellation of Sancerre in the Upper Loire Valley is celebrated for its Sauvignon Blanc wines, shaped by chalky and flinty soils and a continental climate. The 2022 vintage is noted for its vividness and crisp character.

## Interesting facts

- Vineyard is a former Gallo-Roman quarry.
- Flint soil stores heat, aiding grape ripening.
- Certified organic viticulture.
- Aged in steel, barrels, and amphoras.

## Food pairing

The wine's vibrant acidity cuts through richness and complements seafood, while its minerality echoes the salinity of oysters and shellfish. Citrus notes in the wine can bridge with citrus-based marinades or dressings, and its herbaceous undertones pair well with fresh herbs.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process begins with low-pressure pneumatic pressing and static cold settling of the grapes. Fermentation is carried out using yeasts selected for each plot, with 50% of the wine fermented in stainless steel tanks, 40% in barrels, and 10% in amphoras. Malolactic fermentation is avoided. The wine undergoes aging for 11 months, with lees stirring for the first six months. It is then aged in bottle for a minimum of 9 months before release.
