## About this wine

Planeta Santa Cecilia 2020 is a distinguished red wine from Aziende Agricole Planeta s.s., produced in the Noto DOC of Sicily, Italy. It is a 100% Nero d'Avola, representing the pinnacle of this indigenous Sicilian grape. The wine's identity is tied to Planeta's extensive research to identify the ideal terroir for Nero d'Avola, which they found in Noto, the grape's historical region. The vineyards are situated on lime marl soils with chalk fragments, and the farming practices adhere to organic principles and the SOStain® protocol. The name 'Santa Cecilia' is derived from the Planeta family name, signifying its importance as their flagship offering.

## Wine making process

The Planeta Santa Cecilia 2020 is produced from 100% Nero d'Avola grapes. Following harvest, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. A significant period of maceration with the skins, lasting 30-35 days, is employed to maximize extraction. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel. The wine then undergoes aging for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, with a controlled proportion of new wood (10-15%) alongside used barrels. The vineyards are managed using organic agriculture principles and the SOStain® protocol, focusing on soil health and minimal chemical intervention.
