## About this wine

Sito Moresco was created by Angelo Gaja in 1991 as an accessible, youthful entry point into the world-famous terroir of Langhe. Founded in Barbaresco in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, the winery has defined high-end Italian winemaking across five generations. The name derives from Moresco, the former owner of a prime parcel in the Pajorè vineyard that Gaja purchased in 1979. Grapes for this bottling are sourced from key vineyard plots across Treiso, Barbaresco, Serralunga d'Alba, and La Morra.

## Interesting facts

- The wine is named after Moresco, the previous owner of a Pajorè vineyard plot bought by Gaja in 1979.
- First produced in 1991, it was created to offer an approachable Gaja red in its youth.
- Founded in 1859, the Gaja estate has been family-owned for five generations.

## Food pairing

The crisp acidity of Barbera paired with the structured, fine tannins of Nebbiolo balances fat and protein in rich meat dishes while complementing savory earthy elements like mushrooms and truffles.

## Wine making process

Grapes are hand-harvested with rigorous cluster selection and vinified separately by grape variety in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Fermentation and skin maceration last approximately three weeks. Blending takes place following malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barriques and large wooden casks, followed by additional aging in bottle prior to release.
