## About this wine

Tenuta Carobbio Leone Sangiovese Toscana IGT is a 100% Sangiovese from the Panzano in Chianti sub-region of Tuscany. The estate, revived since 1985 with the expertise of enologist Dario Faccin, is situated in a picturesque natural amphitheater. The 2014 vintage experienced a delayed ripening season due to a wet spring, resulting in a late harvest. The wine is noted for its significant structure, balanced tannins, and harmonious profile, drawing comparisons to high-end Brunello di Montalcino.

## Interesting facts

- Estate boasts 123 acres of ancient vines, olive groves, and woodland.
- Harvested at the end of October due to a delayed ripening season.
- Considered by some as Tuscany's answer to Brunello di Montalcino Riserva.
- Producer's 2013 Chianti Classico won Decanter Magazine's 'Best of Show'.

## Food pairing

The wine's medium+ to full body and firm tannins are well-suited to rich protein dishes, where they can cut through fat and complement the meat's texture. The dark fruit and spice notes in the wine can echo or contrast with savory and earthy flavors in the food, creating a balanced and complex dining experience.

## Wine making process

Tenuta Carobbio Leone Sangiovese 2014 was produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes. Following vineyard practices such as pruning and green harvesting, the grapes were harvested in late October 2014. Fermentation occurred over 10 days in small stainless-steel vats with controlled temperatures and delastage, followed by 28 days of maceration. The wine was then aged for 24 months in partly new French oak barrels, and subsequently refined in the bottle for an additional 18-24 months prior to release.
