## About this wine

The Blue Swan is an exclusive collaboration between heritage German loopwheel apparel brand Merz b. Schwanen and natural winemakers Olympia Samara and Hannes Hoffmann of Weingut Roterfaden, facilitated by importer vom Boden. Sourced from steep, terraced stone slopes in Mühlhausen and Roßwag in Württemberg, this natural skin-contact white wine reflects a shared commitment to traditional German artisanry and low-intervention craftsmanship.

## Interesting facts

- Only 900 bottles were produced globally for the 2024 vintage.
- Created as a collaboration with iconic German cotton basics brand Merz b. Schwanen.
- Grapes are grown on steep, terraced vineyards featuring rare blue shell limestone soils.
- Grapes are crushed by foot in traditional manual fashion before spontaneous fermentation.

## Food pairing

The wine's vibrant acidity, lightweight texture, and fine skin-contact tannins make it versatile for food pairing. Its delicate aromatic profile matches fresh seafood, light meats, and herbaceous salads without overwhelming subtle flavours, while its fresh acidity cuts through light creamy cheeses.

## Wine making process

Organically and Demeter-certified biodynamically farmed grapes are hand-harvested in traditional woven baskets and crushed underfoot. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with natural yeasts, spending 5 days on the skins in seasoned oak barrels. The wine undergoes aging in neutral oak barrels and is bottled unfiltered with minimal added sulfur.
