## About this wine

Located in the steep-slope terroirs of Meddersheim in the Nahe region, Wein- und Sektgut Bamberger has been crafting exceptional wines for decades. The estate's dedicated sparkling wine journey began in 1984, inspired by a visiting winemaker from Champagne. Today, under Heiko Bamberger, Sekt has become the beating heart of the estate. This Blanc de Blancs represents a uniquely German interpretation of the style, blending Riesling and Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder) grown on complex sandstone and quartzite soils. The estate is certified sustainable via the FAIR'N GREEN standard, reflecting their commitment to quality and environmental stewardship.

## Interesting facts

- The estate's sparkling wine journey began in 1984, inspired by a visiting winemaker from Champagne.
- Unlike French Blanc de Blancs made of Chardonnay, this German version blends Riesling and Pinot Blanc.

- The winery is certified sustainable under the strict FAIR'N GREEN standard since 2017.

## Food pairing

This sparkling wine thrives on its high acidity and fine mousse. The Pinot Blanc provides a creamy mid-palate that pairs beautifully with light poultry and delicate fish, while the vibrant Riesling acidity cuts through light fats, butter sauces, and salty appetizers, cleansing the palate.

## Wine making process

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand from steep-slope vineyards. Winemaking begins with extremely gentle whole-cluster pressing followed by natural sedimentation to clarify the must. The base wines undergo a cool, reductive fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve fresh fruit characteristics, followed by complete malolactic fermentation to soften the sharp acidity. The sparkling wine is crafted using the traditional method (Klassische Flaschengärung), aging on its lees for 9 to 12 months. Each bottle is hand-riddled on traditional wooden desks in the estate's cellars before disgorgement.
