## About this wine

Tenuta Argentiera is situated in the southern region of the Bolgheri DOC in Castagneto Carducci, Tuscany. Named after historical silver mines dating back to the Etruscan civilization, the estate boasts the highest elevation vineyards in the Bolgheri appellation while maintaining close proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Villa Donoratico pays tribute to the historic Serristori family, who acquired the land in 1512. The 2022 growing season was marked by warm summer conditions mitigated by maritime influence and timely late-summer rainfall, providing ideal conditions for classic Bordeaux grape varieties.

## Interesting facts

- Tenuta Argentiera holds the highest vineyard elevation in Bolgheri while being the closest estate to the Tyrrhenian Sea.
- The estate takes its name from ancient Etruscan silver mines ('argentiera') located on the hillside property.
- Every bottle features a Prooftag Bubble Tag security seal on the neck for digital authentication via smartphone.

## Food pairing

A structured and rich Tuscan red demands protein-rich and fatty dishes. The pronounced tannins bind effectively to meat proteins and fats, softening the wine's texture. At the same time, vibrant coastal acidity cuts through rich sauces and complements earthy, savory profiles like wild game or mature sheep's milk cheese.

## Wine making process

Grapes were harvested manually starting in late August 2022. Fermentation and maceration took place over 20 to 25 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement vats, managed strictly parcel by parcel. Malolactic fermentation occurred entirely in stainless steel vats. The wine was aged for 12 months in 500-liter French and Austrian oak tonneaux, followed by a minimum of 6 months of refinement in the bottle prior to release.
