## About this wine

Founded in 2008 by Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon in Oregon's Willamette Valley, Walter Scott Wines quickly established a reputation for crafting premier cool-climate wines. The winery's name honors Ken's grandfather, Walter, and his nephew Scott. The Cuvée Ruth Pinot Noir is dedicated to the memory of Ruth and Irv Kantor, parents of winery partner Sue Kantor, whose early support was instrumental in establishing the estate. This bottling brings together grapes from an exceptional lineup of top Eola-Amity Hills sites, including Temperance Hill, Koosah, Sojeau, X Novo, Justice, and Bracken vineyards.

## Interesting facts

- Dedicated to the memory of Ruth Kantor, whose family helped Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon launch Walter Scott Wines.
- Sourced from a curated selection of top Eola-Amity Hills vineyards, including Temperance Hill, Koosah, and X Novo.
- Bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the natural vibrancy and mineral character of ancient volcanic soils.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and fine, silky tannins of this Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir pair exceptionally well with rich poultry, fatty fish, and earthy vegetable dishes. Bright freshness cuts through rich textures while complementing subtle herb and berry accents.

## Wine making process

Harvested by hand across select Eola-Amity Hills vineyard blocks, each vineyard lot is fermented separately using indigenous yeasts. The vinification incorporates approximately 5% whole clusters to enhance aromatic nuance and structure. After spontaneous fermentation and gentle pressing with minimal bâtonnage, the wine is aged for 10 months in traditional 228-liter French oak barrels, 40% of which are new. The reserve barrels are carefully selected and blended before bottling unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity of fruit and vineyard expression.
